I remember Nell Wilkins from grade school. She was a cute little gal, pale skin, freckles, and glasses. She might have had reddish/brown hair, slightly curly? I recall her being very friendly. I remember being sorry for her parents and wondering how they felt losing a child. I had not experienced much loss up to that point. Who knows who she would have grown up to be? Maybe we'll all find out about little Nell the next time around!

Nell was a wonderful and very kind person. I remember she had the most beautiful skin - pale and clear and pretty blue eyes.

However, I did not know you all in elementary school, but I remember when Nell died - it was during the summer either between 8th and 9th grade or 9th and 10th grade. I attended the funeral with many of our friends from chorus. Miss Harrison was there, too. I believe she had a brain aneurism while helping her mother dry dishes and died soon afterwards. My memory could certainly be wrong on that point. She is shown in one of the Talons in Memorium so we should check there.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall.

Take care!

Helen

Nell's full name was Barbara Nell Wilkins. She had light brown hair and was probably the first person I knew who wore contact lenses. She also was the first person I knew to suffer an aneurysm. The summer after the 9th grade, she develop a severe headache that continued for a day or so. She collapsed on the floor of her kitchen and never regained consciousness. She had a younger brother, Russell, and terrific parents, Clyde and Fran.

Nell was probably one of the sweetest people I have known. She was in my classes at Southampton and my Brownie troop. Smart, kind, and very funny in her quiet way.
