I used to play basketball with her cousin Darryl on a dirt court in her backyard, or at least I think it was her yard,(maybe it was Darryl's) "Dot" moved into the city after we graduated, and on weekends, and sometimes after class, I would drop by her house and hang out with her and her cousin. She always welcomed me and she was very hospitable. One evening, after alot of drinks and alot of laughs, someone served up some great spoonbread. Funny what one remembers after all those years. Friendships like this one were not exactly encouraged back then(maybe that is the coolest thing that I did that no one knows about). I ran into her a few years ago when she was working for the city. She was still fiendly and warm. What a delightful individual. What a tender soul.
