LaVIER, Robert Henry "Bob," 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna J. and James M. LaVier II. Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Adam and Kenneth; daughters-in-law, Elizabeth and Tara; five beautiful grandchildren, Avery, Addison, Zoey, Portia and Leonardo; his brother, James M. LaVier III "Jim" and wife, Sharon; and his nephew, Jamie LaVier and niece, Sarah Haggerty. A lifelong resident of Richmond, Bob graduated from Hermitage High School in 1965. Bob loved baseball. He coached his sons' teams with Lakeside Little League and Chamberlayne-Laburnum Babe Ruth League and later coached the team for American Legion Post 125. Bob also loved spending time at the beach and recently served as a board member and President of the Chesapeake House on the Bay Condominium Association in Virginia Beach. Bob's work as a builder and contractor spanned almost 50 years. He worked for Dr. Cyrus Katzen and Culmore Realty Co. in Northern Virginia. He also founded DAB Engineering. Bob's many commercial and residential projects will stand as a lasting testament to his craftsmanship and integrity. Vowing never to retire, Bob worked as long as his health allowed. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and the palliative care team at St. Mary's Hospital, for their compassionate care during Bob's final illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Lutheran Memorial Fund, 7809 Woodman Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on March 19, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church.
