SPROUSE, Thomas E., went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Lynda C. Sprouse; daughter, Tracie S. Land and her husband, Chris; son, Thomas E. Sprouse II and his wife, Suzanne; two grandsons, Thomas Noah Land and Thomas Fisher Sprouse. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sherry P. Sprouse; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Sharon Cullinan and Christopher and Leslie Cullinan. He also leaves behind six nieces, five nephews and many cousins and friends. Tom was born August 14, 1947 in Richmond, Va., where he grew up. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard during the Vietnam era. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Lynda Cullinan. Together they founded Creative Conservation Company in March of 1981. He was currently serving as president of the Virginia Chapter of Insulation Contractor's Association of America and a member of Richmond Home Builders Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. As a business man, he was a pioneer and trendsetter, using honesty, integrity and hard work to leave his mark on the energy conservation industry. Tom was also a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. There will be a visitation in Tom's memory on Sunday, February 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., and a memorial service will be held Monday, February 18, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 11342 Hillcrest Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.
Tommy and I were good friends. We went to many parties together in his Super Sport. We were in the Air Force the same time but did not know it at the time. Tommy was always having fun and made sure his friends were included in it. I knew Linda as well and it was fitting that they married. I bought my 1st and 2nd MGB from Tommy at the dealer near Willow Lawn after I was married. As we moved around I lost track of him but often told others about the harrowing adventures we had so I still have him in my thoughts.
Tommy and I hung out a lot in high school. We would go west to a country store that his relatives ran to hang out and have fun. The last time I saw him was around 74 when he knocked on my door on Lombardy ave. I forget what he was selling but he was surprised to see me with long hair and a beard. He was a honest and good friend and I will never forget him telling me about the night his father died in a car accident. He said it was late at night or early morning and he sat straight up in bed and had a premonition that his dad was dead, and he was! Call this being psychic or whatever, it just proved to me that we are connected in ways that we can't understand. Good to hear that he had such a lovely family for the short time he was on earth.
