Evelyn Fay Tredway, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born in Richmond, Va., on September 8, 1946 and was predeceased by her parents, George and Julia Tredway; and her sister, Carol Tredway Throckmorton. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Wilson "Billy' Throckmorton of Wicomico Church, Va.; her niece, Laura Gauntt (Charles) of Mechanicsville, Va.; her nephew, Gary Throckmorton (Caroll) of White Stone, Va.; her great nieces and nephews, Katrina and Garrett Gauntt of Mechanicsville, Wilson and Parker Throckmorton of White Stone; aunt, Betty Dean Dise; uncle, Gerald Wheatley of Tangier, Va.; brother-in-law, Robert Throckmorton (Donna) of Mechanicsville; and many cousins on Tangier Island. Evelyn was a graduate of Hermitage High School and graduated from VCU in 1969 with a degree in education. She was a teacher for Henrico County Schools for 30 years. She first taught 5th graders in Highland Springs and then in the fall of 1979, when John Rolfe Middle School opened, she taught science until her retirement. Visiting with former students and fellow teachers warmed her heart. Auntie, as her nieces and nephews called her, loved her family dearley and enjoyed spending time with her sister in Wicomico Church. In her retirement, she also enjoyed cruising with her brother-in-law and sister in Florida. Key West, Bahamas, New York and Maine. Her favorite holiday was Christmas when she would help her sister decorate and organize for the festivities. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses in ICU at St. Mary's for the care and compassion that Evelyn received. The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 12 noon at the Chapel Mausoleum at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Heart Association , 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
