Ronald Russell Toombs

 

Ronald R. Toombs went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2021, after a brief bout with brain cancer. He was born in Fauquier County, Virginia, on August 20, 1949. Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and George Toombs; his brother, Wayne Toombs; and his daughter, Casie Toombs Rhodes. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Shannon (Scott); his grandson, Greyson Rhodes; his niece and nephew, Sandi Freer (Duane) and Troy Toombs (Perri); his extended family in Saxe, Virginia; his dear, long-time significant other, Marnie L. Triscari; his mainstay, Katie M. Johnson; and his many beloved friends. Ronnie graduated from Hermitage High School in 1967. He proudly serviced in the United States Army. During his tour in Vietnam, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and an Army Commendation Medal with Valor. Ronnie served in Echo Recon 1/5 1st Air Cav. While there, he participated in the invasion of Cambodia in the spring of 1970. For that action, Echo Recon was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for Valor. Ronnie enjoyed a career as an Agent for State Farm from 1978 to the time of his passing. A celebration of his life will be held at Oakdale, 13497 Ashland Road, Ashland, Virginia 23005, on May 18, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m.

I will always remember Ronnie as a good friend and Vietnam Veteran.What a wonderful person to be around and always a lot of fun.You will be missed my friend.

George Love (Love)

I remember Ronnie so well.  I can see him standing in the hall.  He was a handsome guy and I always thought my girlfriend had a crush on him.  I guess that's why we were never friends.  Sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
