Susie Cox (Mills)

Susie Cox (Mills)

Carol P. Mills (Susie) passed away after a 6-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Susie ran into the arms of Jesus on June 22, 2022. Susie is preceded in death by her husband, C.P. Mills, her parents, Joe and Louise Cox, and her oldest sister, Doris Kies. Susie is survived by her sister, Linda Bailey, sister Nancy Poythress, son Tony Mills (Sarah), daughter Tracey Mills, grandchildren Ella Mills and Drew Veal, her precious dog Princess Boo Bear and countless other family members and friends.

Susie was born and raised in Richmond, VA where she gave her life to Christ. Susie later married Cabell Porter Mills and helped raise Tracey and Tony Mills in Fairfax, VA. After successfully running their own business for many years, Susie and C.P. retired to their beach home on Hatteras Island, N.C. Sadly, a short time later, C.P. passed away unexpectedly, and Susie continued to live on the island while making many memories and friends until she moved to Round Rock, TX to be near her oldest grandchild, Ella. Susie’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She looked forward to spending time with them and was impressed by the young people they had grown into.

Several years later, Susie’s friend, Mark McKeel moved from the island to Texas. Mark and Susie continued to be dear friends and support one another throughout her battle. Mark was always there for Susie when she needed him and supported her during some of her hardest days.

In addition to Mark, Susie also shared a cherished 40-year friendship with Jamie Jewell of Cincinnati, OH. Their friendship spanned across decades and included many adventures both in the US and abroad.

Susie found a home and a family at First Baptist Church of Round Rock. Susie especially enjoyed her time with her friend, Susan Oglesbee, who shared a deep faith and unconditional friendship together along with the members of her Sunday School class.

During her 6-year battle with cancer, Susie always kept a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She even helped to counsel other people who had been diagnosed with various forms of cancer. Susie’s never-ending faith in Jesus was a light that shone through in everything she did. Those who knew her were lucky enough to be witness to her faith, strength, and love in Jesus.

A special thank you to friends and neighbors, Kari Plott, Wyth Henderson and Rick Varnier for looking in on Susie, caring for her needs, emotional support, and a never-ending supply of smoothies.
