It is sad that some of our classmates left too soon. John and I were friends and I do have memories of going to his house and feeling a little odd because his mother was my teacher, and a good one at that. I think of her and that huge rectangular, black pocketbook she carried around, with a pack of Parliament cigs always looking like they were just about ready to fall out. John was a gentle soul and I am sure she must have been devastated to lose him. Looks like I will end up in the same place as John so maybe we will be neighbors!
