Brenda Faye Blue (Scholz)

Brenda Faye Blue (Scholz)

Brenda became a pre-school teacher and eventually established the first pre-school at Petsworth Baptist in Gloucester, VA, where she eventually served as director.  She later returned to Rappahannock Community College to start a lifelong dream of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. While attending RCC, Brenda was recognized by the Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges for her outstanding merit and accomplishments.  She passed away at her home in Gloucester on April 22, 2013, after a lengthy illness.  Betty Dunn Bullington, a member of our class who is a retired registered nurse and who had been a close friend to Brenda since childhood, traveled from Florida to stay at the Scholz home to help care for Brenda during her final days.  Brenda was survived by her husband Raymond, her son Timothy and his wife Paula, and her son Bradley and his wife Angelia.

I can't believe it has been 3 years. I went to her home in Gloucester during her last stages of alzheimers. She would not eat but when she responded so well to me over the phone, her husband asked if I could come for a week or two. I was on the next plane. I stayed a little over a month. She died in about 24 days sfter I arrived. I stayed for the funeral and also helped Ray with her things. Hospice had already been called. She and I had some sweet moments and she recognized me and even asked for me when she couldnt see me right away. I treasure those last days with her and Ray and her sons. We met in 2nd grade and immediately became best friends. Our 2 families went to every Hermitage football game from the time we started at Brookland. We were same height, eye and hair color and even broke our front teeth same time. We wore matching outfits when we could. She was my maid of honor. I moved to Fla.right after graduation so missed her wedding.
I miss her so much but know she is at peace. Even without communicating for many years living so far apart, I wasn't shocked to find out she became an LPN. Since I didn't go to college until early 80s and became an RN. Brenda was so loving and was more like a sister to me. I was an only child so her friendship was so important to me. God Bless you Brenda,I love you.
