Phyllis attended Hermitage and was a majorette during her sophomore and junior years.  She moved to Hanover and was graduated from Patrick Henry High School.  She passed away on January 18, 2015, and is buried with her son Robert in historic Emmanuel Church Cemetery.  She was survived by her husband Jack Cassells, son Patrick Cassells, daughter Melissa Ligh and her husband Roy, grandchildren Madison and Monica Ligh, sisters Glenda Brooks and her husband Roy and Peggy Sargent, brother Glenn Sargent, Jr., and his wife Joyce, nephews Christopher Holstrom and Jon Bernstein, great-nieces Kaelan, Maddie, Brittney, and Samantha, and great-nephews Caleb and Christopher.
