In Memory

Mark Connelly

I was notified today that we lost classmate Mark Connelly from cancer yesterday, September 10th, 2019.  I don't have any information as to services, family, etc., but if I do get more information I will post it.  Our condolences to Mark's family.

Mark passed away peacefully on Tuesday night with his family by his side.  He had fought a long battle to save his life years ago against lymphoma, and has had to live with the terrible side affects, but could not overcome this last battle against pancreatic and liver cancer.  In mid-August I went to Houston to bring Mark and his son, CJ, home to Laredo from the MD Anderson Cancer Hospital after the diagnosis.  I stayed on for almost a week to help the family, and, at Mark’s request, to assist in the transition of managing the family owned store in downtown Laredo.  In Mark’s final weeks, he has been in the very loving care of his family, especially his son....a remarkable man that has been by his father’s side, doing everything with very little sleep.  When it came time for me to leave my good friend, it was a tearful goodbye.  I will miss him.                                                                                             Memorial services are not set at this time, but will likely be in either Ridgecrest or Riverside, in addition to a memorial in Laredo.  I will post further info as I am notified.

Hey John H. I remember you two from high school and it seemed you were always in a good mold and made me laugh. I didn't know Mark struggled with cancer. Sorry to learn about it.  I pray you and his family will have peace. You probably don't remember me but I bought Mark's 250 Ducati off-road mc from him. I had many fun hours with that bike. God Bless. --Doyle Claxton
