I met Matt in junior high when he was living with a foster family. He didn't have fair start at life like most of us. He had a rough childhood without a father growing up, and lost his mother while still in highschool. I recently learned that he took his own life. It's hard to understand where a person must be in their life to want it to end. He was always full of energy and up for an adventure. Take a moment and think about Matt.
Well said Jeff. I too just learned about Matt's passing and am both stunned and saddened. Matt was one of the kids in my driving group for driver's ed (with Mr. Knutson). He used to give me a hard time because I was such a scaredy-cat driver. A few years after graduation I ran into Matt and we had a good laugh reminiscing about those days. He was a very fun, likeable guy and he will be missed.
I have lots of memories of Matt. I often wonder how many bikes are lying at the bottom of lake george behind econo foods. when he lived in that trailer court we used to take old bikes and ride them off the little cliff into the lake (many bikes didn't make it back up). We had a blast.
We (Matt, "Beaver" Hintzmann, and a few others) went camping down in Beldenville and Matt was pretty well intoxicated. He stumbled over one of the tents, knocking it down, then proceeded to walk right off a 3 foot drop into the creek. (that woke him up). I miss him...what a loss.
