Donna, It was the Witch's Castle in Palm Beach. All my nieces and nephews have been driven by there and i’ve scared the pants off of each one. There were (and still are) bars - like jail cell bars across an opening in the rocks along the roadway. Of course, I would tell all the “fine little kiddies” that this was the dungeon the witch kept all the kids in. Funny, how each of my nieces and nephews - all now adults- take their children over to the Witche’s Castle and scare the pants off their gullible little victims! 😜
I have not read about anyone remembering Blizzards and Burgers on 10th St in Lake Park...; oh was their food great!
Pete, you made me laugh so hard with your writing about Mrs McCullough (BITCH) and her paddlings being worse than the nuns! Hysterical!!! I was raised Catholic and the nuns made me so nervous. I went to St Francis Church, but did not go to school there.
The Royal Castle across from Dairy Belle— the best little burgers ever. Then on Bayberry Drive in Lake Park (one block north of Silver Beach and two blocks west of US1)... The Dairy Belle Ice Cream truck would drive through the blocks. EVERY kid ran out to the truck and bought a “Dilly Bar” hoping to find the popsicle stick in the middle, which said “FREE DILLY BAR”...! That was like the golden egg in Easter Egg Hunts! Now, updating today.... Dilly Dilly” as to the Bud Light commercials on TV! Can’t wait for the Super Bowl Bud Light Commercials surely to be shown! “Dilly Dilly”!!!! 😂 Enough for now; I will be back!
