In Memory

Patricia Russel (Evans)

Written by Patty’s daughter, Annie Evans Trotta

Patricia Russell Evans passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 after a battle with cancer. I was honored to be there with her at home in her final moments singing her favorite Carole King songs & holding her hand as she transitioned to other side of the journey. I’ll always remember kissing her forehead in the final days saying I love you and her whispering “me too”. She had a bucket list and I’m forever grateful we were able to check off every experience (meeting her newest granddaughter Stella, having a family reunion in Maine, visiting her Alma Mater Elon University). I learned many important character traits from her about being generous, thinking of others, giving back to the community & being a good friend. You could count on her to be your biggest cheerleader & drop everything to help you out in a jam. She loved cheering on the sidelines of the soccer field when her grandkids scored a goal & celebrating life’s milestones. My husband David Trotta and I went on many weekend getaways as she was always down to come watch Wells so we could go away & have some adult qt time.

Patty was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church. She enjoyed kayaking, landscaping, fixing up and donating bikes to kids in need and spending time with her extended family at a 110-year-old beach cottage in Wells, Maine, passed down from her great-grandparents.

Patty was always an advocate for progressive causes that addressed the needs of women and

those less fortunate in our society. She was always up for a march on Washington!

A born recycler, she never threw away anything but always looked to give things to others.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Planned Parenthood, Elon University or the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (UUCF). A celebration of life service will be held at UUCF on September 23, 2023 at 4:00pm
