The following was posted on Facebook by Rachel Fonte on August 19, 2025:

Joe was diagnosed with cancer about 3 weeks ago and took one treatment and ended up in the hospital for a week.  They discharged him home on Sunday with Hospice because he didn't want to suffer with excruciating pain and wanted to pass peacefully.     Joe passed away tonight around 7:45.  Please say a prayer for our family as we navigate this new journey we are on without the love of our life.

I will also remember Joe with a smile. May peace be with his family and friends. May good memories fill our hearts.
