From the Roanoke Times, Oct 5th, 2011:
Jennifer Marie Skelton, 46, of Roanoke, beloved daughter, departed this life on Monday, October 3, 2011. She is survived by her parents, William M. and Bettie Skelton, of Roanoke, her brother and sister-in-law, Judd and Jody Skelton, of Ashburn, Va.; her golden retriever, Molly; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jenny was a devoted daughter who selflessly cared for her parents during their recent illnesses. A lifelong Presbyterian, she most recently attended the Church of the Holy Spirit and was strong in her Christian faith. Jenny earned her bachelor's degree at Longwood College and received her master's degree at the University of Tennessee. She worked as a speech language pathologist at the Roanoke and Daleville offices of Professional Therapies Inc., specializing in treatment of pediatric patients, particularly those with autism. Prior to that, Jenny worked at Hollins Communications Research Institute treating patients with stuttering disorders. Jenny was a rabid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and loved watching college football and basketball. She liked all types of music, especially live performances of country, bluegrass and old time. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of Carilion Roanoke Memorial's Cardiac Care and Palliative Care units for their superb care and support. A celebration of Jenny's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at the Church of the Holy Spirit with the Rev. R. Quigg Lawrence officiating. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Jenny's name to the Roanoke Valley SPCA or to the National Autism Society.
