I heard through a friend that Kevin passed away very unexpectedly this week. While I wasn't friends with Kevin, my thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. It is so very difficult to lose a loved one....especially one so young.
Kevin James Brock, 37, of Graham, N.C., died unexpectedly Monday November 3, 2008, at his home. Kevin was the beloved son of James H. and Claudia Grammer Brock, of Roanoke, Va. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Hassel and Virginia Brock and Randolph and Marguerite Grammer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Casey Baxter Robertson; his brothers, Gregory S. Brock and his wife, Donna, and John R. Brock, of Roanoke; and his sister-in-law, Jody Baxter Robertson, of Chapel Hill, N.C. He is also survived by his in-laws, Major General (retired) H. Douglas Robertson and his wife, Tommie Baxter Robertson, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and Casey's grandmother, Mildred S. Reynolds, of Charleston, S.C.; his nephew, Harrison Brock and his niece, Lillian Brock, of Roanoke, Va. He also leaves to cherish his memory his aunts, uncles and cousins. His greatest joy was the love he had for his wife and family and friends. His greatest passion was his music. He taught music in the Chapel Hill area and played at various venues on the east coast and in various musical productions in N.C. His greatest gift was the love and inspiration he gave to all of those who loved him and will miss him dearly. We will miss his kindness, his intelligence and his compassion. Kevin was the light of our lives and a blessing for all the years we were able to have him. We will cry a million tears and we will celebrate his brilliant life forever. You would have to listen to our stories and memories for many, many years to know the greatness and beauty of our beloved's spirit. A special service in the memory of Kevin's life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C. at Snipes Farm Retreat, 2339 Jo Mac Road, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27516, 919-929-3454. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at their home at 7188 Hollyberry Road, Roanoke, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
I was at home watching a documentary on a local theatre group that works with puppets, and at the end of the show the screen went black... next was a black and white portrait of Kevin and underneath the given birth date and the other.......apparently he had worked with the group in some form.....
I will never forget that day.... i was so sad, and i will never, ever forget that feeling....
He was a seriously wonderful guy whom i saw here in NC a couple of times. I distinctly remember one time during the summer i ran into him. That particular day,the sun was out in full force, and it was shining on him.... i still to this day, remember thinking that at that moment, when the sun was shining on him and he smiled..what a incredibly beautiful, sweet, truly gentle guy this is. He was glowing.....
I am sooooo sad to see this today. Kevin was by far one of my favorite guys from high school....we used to skip school together and go to the church on the hill down the street and play music, and just generally rebel.
He was so full of light and life, and my heart is heavy today knowing that he is no longer with us. I hope he is somewhere heavenly playing music and flashing that gorgeous grin...

This makes me very sad. I remember talking about music with Kevin at school and I see he lived his passion. RIP KevinTrey McCallie
