Richard L. "Rick" Raines, who with his wife ran the Nuts & Sweet Things ice cream store and confectionary in the Roanoke City Market Building, died Saturday 14 Nov 1992 at the University of Virginia Hospital. Raines, 35, died of complications from a kidney transplant performed at the hospital about six weeks ago. 

He is survived by his wife, Georgia R. Raines; his mother, Patty B. Leighton; his father, Lacy G. Raines; and a sister and brother-in-law, Vicki R. and Lloyd B. Wills. He will also be missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, 17 Nov, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Joyce Morriss officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Monday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son.
