Obituary of Joanna Hill

Joanna Marie Damewood Hill, 53, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Shorter Damewood. Joanna was employed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Company for more than 30 years. Surviving are her daughters, Kristen Marie Hill, of Callaway, Alison Michelle Hill, of Roanoke; granddaughter, Sierra Lynn Hill; gather, Fred M. Damewood, of Roanoke; sister, Lisa Gayle Damewood Duncan, of Roanoke; brothers, Michael Lynn Damewood, of Louisiana, and Gary Wayne Damewood, of Newport; special Friend, Doug Thompson, of Roanoke; former husband, Michael Hill, of Roanoke; grandmother, Virginia Hill Pratt; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, December27, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Pastor Jim Foringer. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.
