CHARLOTTE - Kenneth Steve Atkinson, 46, of Charlotte, formerly of Roanoke, Va., died Friday, March 19, 2004. He was a graduate of Northside High School, class of 1975, and attended Guilford Technical School in Kernersville for two years. Steve was an airplane mechanic for both Piedmont Airlines and US Airways. He was an avid gardener and finish carpenter. Steve was predeceased by his grandparents, Harry and Hazel Atkinson and Steve and Aileen Burke. Surviving are his daughter, Amanda Marie Atkinson of Salem, Va.; his parents, Kenneth W. and Reatha Burke Atkinson of Roanoke, Va.; his brother, David R. Atkinson and wife Pam of Fort Mill, S.C.; his nieces, Lee Ann Atkinson and Ashley Atkinson; his uncles, Robert Burke and wife Edith, Ronnie Atkinson and wife Ann, Michael Atkinson and wife Billie Jean, C.W. Atkinson and wife Kathy and Steve Atkinson and wife Oleta; and numerous cousins. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke. Pastor L. Steve Atkinson and the Rev. Kwang Ho Lee will officiate. Entombment will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
