James (Jimmy) Dickenson, 53, of Virginia Beach, diedFriday May 19, 2006 in Martinsville. Bornon October 18, 1952 in Abingdon. He was the son of the late Thomas Q. Dickenson, Sr. and the late Doris Marie Mullins Dickenson. Jimmy was preceded in deathby a brother T.Q. Dickenson, Jr. in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Patsy Dickenson of Martinsville and Steve and Judy Dickenson of Richmond; sister and brother-in-law, Becky Dickenson Hodges and Mike Hodges of Hendersonville, Tennessee; stepmother, Lucille Hickerson of Maysville, Ken.; stepsister, Karen Hall of Maysville, Ken.; and sister-in-law Patricia Thompson of Roanoke. Jimmy is also survived by nieces, Ashley, Stacey and Wendi and nephews, Michael, Eddie, Steve, Tommy and Micah. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and special friend Patti Scherz. Also surviving are extended family from Overnite Transportation in Norfolk, Virginia. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday May 27, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Wingate officiating Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry Co. at P.O. Box 4788, Martinsville, Va. 24112. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is serving the Dickenson family.
