James (Chip) Hudgins - Class Of 1970

James Mathew "Chip" Hudgins, Jr., 53 of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2005.

Chip was a graduate of Northside High School in Roanoke, Virginia, class of 1970, where he lettered in football and basketball, and Roanoke college, Phi Kappa Alpha, Salem, Virginia, class of 1974. Chip was a banking executive his entire career.

Mr. Hudgins was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jack and Pearl Potter Wade of Wade's Mill.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine Ann Wade Vaughn of Pulaski, Virginia; a daughter, Erin Hudgins of Knoxville, Tennessee; a brother, Greg Hudgins of Alexandria, Virginia; and an uncle, Jack Wade, Jr. of Roanoke, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2005 in the Collierstown Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Skip Hastings. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alexandria Red Cross, c/o "Hurricane Katrina Fund" in honor of Chip Hudgins, 123 N. Alfred Street, Alexandria, Ga. 22314. The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory in Lexington, Virginia is in charge of arrangements.
