Betty Tolley (Alphin) - Class Of 1970 VIEW PROFILE

BETTY TOLLEY ALPHIN Mrs. Betty Tolley Alphin, wife of Curtis Byrd Alphin, Jr. passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday April 2, 2015, in Stuart, Florida. Betty was predeceased by her father, Lewis Milton Tolley, her mother Dorothy Bradshaw Tolley and her brother Danny Arnold Tolley. Born on June 16, 1952, Betty was a graduate of Northside High School in Roanoke, VA. She was first employed by C&P Telephone Company as an operator, and advanced her career with AT&T as a National Accounts Manager supporting the Federal Reserve Banks throughout the United States. Betty loved and took great pride in her work, peers and friendships. Throughout Betty's life she loved to travel and garden. She greatly enjoyed working in the yard and growing beautiful flowers and greenery until her health began to prohibit it. Betty also loved all things Disney and would visit Disney annually to see the beautiful gardens there. Betty has many accomplishments both personally and professionally, but her proudest was her family. Surviving are her husband of forty-five years, Curtis Byrd Alphin, Jr, son Christopher Scott Alphin (wife- Katherine dePrater Alphin), grandson Jacob Christopher Alphin; sisters Jackie Tolley Halterman (husband-Holley Halterman), Joanne Tolley Weissman (husband-Steven Weissman); sister in law Karen Alphin Gilmore (Pierre Gerligand); nephews Jason Morgan and Andrew Gilmore; nieces Natashia Reynolds (husband-Mark Reynolds), and Terra Cash (husband-Justin Cash). Services to celebrate Betty's life will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015, 12:00PM, at Oakeys North Chapel located at 6732 Peter Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. The burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, VA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2015, 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Oakeys North Chapel. The family wishes to extend thanks to the medical teams who supported Betty over the last fifteen years. Betty was so grateful and touched by those who supported and cared for her. The friendships she made throughout her life will be treasured and remembered long after her passing.
