David Eugene Buchanan, 61, of Roanoke passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota to John D. and Marjorie Turner Buchanan. David is preceded in death by his father, John Buchanan and his stepson, Jesse Clingenpeel.

David graduated from Northside High School in the 1977. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. David made the military his career and served his country for 20 years. He retired from the Air Force and returned to the Roanoke Valley where he has been employed by the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 22 years. David was a hardworking man who enjoyed concerts, airplanes, guitars, The Beatles, and good times with his closest friends. 

David is survived by his cherished wife, Pyong Suk Kim Buchanan; his sons, Tyler and Robert Buchanan; and his beloved mother, Marjorie Buchanan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Lewis Gale Medical Center for the care they provided to David.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Oakey’s North Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020.
