Obituary of Joan Moyer

Joan McCormick Moyer, 53, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 1, 2012 after a long courageous battle with Cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernita McCormick. Joan was employed as a manager in the Patient Access Department at Carlion Clinic. Surviving are her husband Mark Moyer; daughter, Erin Shinault and husband Frank; son, Josh Moyer and wife Gail all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Haili, Ian and Abigail; father, Charles McCormick of Wirtz; brothers, David McCormick and wife Trish of Wirtz; Walter Hudson and wife Sharon of Faison, N.C.; sister, Sue Plybon and husband Wayne of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and her devoted, loving, and caring extended family members at Journey Church and CommUNITY Church. A special thanks to Dr. Paul Richards and the staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care and the staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center for their many acts of kindness and compassion. A celebration of Joan's life will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4th at the Roanoke Seventh Day Adventist Church 4120 Challenger Avenue by Pastors Michael DuVal and Tom McCracken. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
