Obituary for Luella Myers Banks

Luella Myers Banks, 50, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 30, 2010. She was born December 16, 1960 in Roanoke, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Myers. In addition to her cherished father, she was also preceded in death by a special aunt Estelle Gates Cherry who was known affectionately as Sister. Luella was a 1979 graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. Her hobbies included swimming, scuba diving, and cooking for her family. Luella was known for her friendly outgoing personality. She had a remarkable gift of making everyone feel that they were her best friend and that they held a very special place in her heart. She is survived by her beloved mother, Patricia (Pat) Gates Myers; loving daughters, Aynsley Sowers and husband Joe; Brittany Burrows and boyfriend Brad all of Roanoke; granddaughter, Mackenzie Sowers; husband, Mike Banks of Boones Mill; brother, Bobby Myers and wife Rosanna of Roanoke; Jim Myers and wife Karen of Richmond; nephews and nieces including, Caroline and Martin Winters and their sons, Luke and Davis of Charlottesville; Mcdowell Myers and wife Elie of Troutville; Livingston Myers of Roanoke; Graham and Nicholas Myers of Richmond; step Children, Jenifer Banks and wife Christine and their daughters Hannah and Chloe of Hampton, Virginia; and her special dachshund babies, Buster Brownie and Daisy Mae. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission or to the Roanoke Valley SPCA. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Faith Chapel at First Baptist Church. A Celebration of life will be held Monday from 5-9 p.m. where the family will receive friends at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 540-366-0707.
