
October 11, 2017 Joel Melton Sloane, 61, of Roanoke passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was a native Roanoker, served in the United States Army, was a talented artist, great dad, son, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy C. and Peggy Melton Sloane; brother, Ellett L. Sloane; special cousins, Harry and Paul Helm. He is survived by his daughters, Emma M. Sloane and Susana C. Caudle; son, Bobby R. Caudle III; brother, Daniel E. Sloane and wife, Janet Rice Sloane of Tioga, Texas; sisters, Holly R. Sloane of Charlotte, N.C. and Cyndi Sloane Croft of Roanoke; nephews, Zac Croft and Isaac Sloane; great niece, Laura Croft; special uncle and aunt, George and Masako Sloane; and numerous other cousins and friends. Special thanks to the staff of Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and support during his stay there. There will be a celebration of Joe's life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Southview United Methodist Church, 3539 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke.
