Gretchen was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension in 2006 (approximately). PPH is abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. It makes the right side of the heart need to work harder than normal. There is no known cure.
Gretchen tried several different treatment options. She passed away in October 2007, while she was on a heart-lung transplant list. Gretchen was a teacher in Atlanta, Ga. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and great personality. She will be greatly missed.

Additionally, we will work to raise awareness of the importance of being an organ donor, as Gretchen died waiting for a transplant. "
