
Kenneth Russ; Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Kenneth L. Russ, a clinical psychologist, died Thursday (Dec. 26, 1996) of cancer in his University City home. He was 52.
Dr. Russ was born and raised in New York City. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester and his master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. He had a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical School.
Dr. Russ came to St. Louis in 1971, when he became the assistant director of psychology training at Jewish Hospital and developed the first biofeedback laboratory in St. Louis for anxiety, tension, pain and psychosomatic disorders. He entered private practice in 1978.
He was affiliated with several hospitals in the area. Dr. Russ taught at Washington University School of Medicine and was on the clinical faculty at St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Russ served as an expert witness in several civil and criminal trials in Missouri.
Active in many professional organizations, Dr. Russ founded the Biofeedback Society of Missouri and was president of the Missouri Psychological Association.

What stands out most in my mind about Ken was what an audiophile and lover of classical music he was. Had a great sound system in his dorm room and was a regular patron of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra. Ken loved Mahler. Sorry, Ken, I really never could get into him.
