God Bless you Sammy.  Like Roland said the number and type of new treatment regimens is encouraging and you have all our prayers to lift you up.

Brenda Leazer (Chandler)

Sammy, so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Prayers for a complete recovery. God does answer prayers.

Like so many, I truly enjoy this website. I love reading about everyone. Thanks go out to our site administrators for keeping the site up and running.

Thanks Brenda from all your administrators. It is classmates like you that keep it running. Without your interest, comments and participation, the site would be dead and boring. Keep up the good work!  Kay

To Larry Willis - Soooooo sorry for your misery, but so happy you are better. Have you had any residual problems?  I don't know much about life after discharge from the hospital, but I understand this disease of the devil destroys lung function and I wondered if you were discharged on oxygen and how you are doing in that respect. My prayers go with you and hope you stay healthy and regain all your strength and stamina.

To Rebecca - It's good to hear you are doing well. Getting excited to go to the grocery store is probably us being appreciative of the little things, things we take for granted. That has been my only outing since last March. It's almost a year now since the shut down. I'm sure we all have our own description of what this has meant to us. I feel the joy has been sucked out of me and the creative interest and curiosity has died. I know a lot of people have found this to be an opportunity to learn new things or clean out their houses, but I think I just sort of lost interest in everything. I'm sure this will pass. Tell us what you have been doing over the past year. Have you been able to work, or have you retired?  Any new hobbies or interests?  Kay

To Steve Rast:  Just checking in to see how you and Marina are doing since your illness  a year ago. Steve, looking back on your message to your classmates I am even more convinced you had Covid just before it was announced that there was such a thing. I pray both of you have done well and you've gotten on with enjoying your new marriage and making up for lost time when both of you were so sick in the first month of being together. Keep us updated.   Kay

To Rebecca, thank you for your concern and you prayers. I really appreciate you.

I was moved to rehab yesterday. Had the best sleep since the accident. They started my physical therapy this morning. They had to help me get out of bed brcause the pain is really intense when my legs are moved. I used a walker and was able to move my legs better than I have since the accident. Then they put me in a wheelchair and I made test run to the bathroom. That went better than I expected. I'm not sure how long I'll be here. I guess it depends on how I make progress. I'm a big believer in the power of prayer. I do appreciate all the prayers. I'm not experiencing any systems with COVID. This morning my temp was 97.5 which is normal for me.

To Sammy I'm so sorry to hear about your condition. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I pray that you make a full recovery.

Hello Classmates,

It is hard to believe that five years have already passed since our 50th Class Reunion. I believe it is true as you age, the time goes by faster. With this in mind, we want to see our family and friends as often as possible.

We, the site Administrators are looking forward to the 55th Class Reunion and seeing each of you! But, we need your help. Please check your information and update it, if needed.

Also, we need your help locating Missing Bearcats. Please check the list on the top left of the website. If you know the whereabouts of any of these Classmates, please contact them or let us know. Our goal is to locate and contact every Classmate. With all of us working together, we can do it!!

Thank you for your help! We're looking forward to seeing you soon!

Cheryl

Just added a Bearcat page to my prayer lists.  So much struggle and so much heartache for so many.  We really were young and healthy once.  Looking forward to receiving those new bodies that will never age or disease courtesy of God's gift through Christ.

That'll Preach George. I will be officiating my 2nd Covid-19 funeral today. Both are our family members. It is good to be ready. PRAISE GOD

Roland and Nancy: I see where Magnolia got some ice and there was a large wreck on one of the overpasses. I hope you are staying safe and warm in this unusual winter weather. I also see where you are getting snow 2-6 inches?  How unusual is this for your city?   God Bless!

Anne: That goes for you too, Anne. How much snow did you get?  When was the last time you saw snow?

02/14/21 01:24 PM #1878

Roland DeLoach

Hi Kay,

Yep, crazy is a good term for our recent weather and especially for the expected weather in the next few days. Depending on location the ice and snow estimates vary, but it's the hard freeze that we are fearing. Forecasters suggest we will dip to single digits and possibly subzero temps. Magnolia's Monday current forcast is for 4 degrees, 1/4 inch of ice covered with 2-6 inches of snow. If we hit the 4 degree mark, it will be the lowest ever recorded here. Everything outside that needed to be wrapped is complete.
Btw, I received my 2nd Moderna shot yesterday. It packed a much larger punch than the first. Sore arm, headache, fever, chills and fatigue. Regardless, I feel thankful and blessed for the gift of the shot. If they come out with the variant booster vaccine, I'll get that too. Nancy gets her 2nd Pfizer shot next Saturday. She had absolutely no reaction to the first. After all that chemotherapy that she had, I think her body didn't even flinch with the vaccine :-). Thanks for thinking about us!

Roland: I hope you remember the good training you got as a kid in Rock Hill - don't forget the milk and bread (regardless of whether you need it or not), gas in the car (not that you can drive anyplace), and make sure you have plenty of blankets because this is when the furnace always goes out. Our daughter in Raleigh has had some cold weather and her furnace went out yesterday. She said at that time it was 55 degrees inside the house. Repair man was coming on Monday.  Good luck, our prayers are with you!  By the way, my hubby had his first shot Friday and on Saturday he had a sore arm, headache, and fatigue, but he didn't tell me until after it all went away. He's like that - he never complains. I hope I wasn't mean to him yesterday while he was feeling low.  Happy Valentine's Day to you and Nancy!

Cathy,

Good to hear from you. Russell and I were at Trios two weeks ago to celebrate someone's birthday. I thought about you because we both like this restaurant. BTW the birthday boy and his wife who are in our age bracket tested positive for COVID and survived (before the party at Trios).

Roland,

Thanks for sharing your and Nancy's vaccine side effects. Russell and I get our 2nd Pfizer shot tomorrow.

Kay,

When I was a child living in Red River we had a pot bellied, coal burning stove in one of the rooms to keep us warm. No furnace there. I see the stoves are for sale on Wayfair. A little surprising for this day and time, don't you think?

02/14/21 04:54 PM #1880

Kay Manning (Elrod)

Beck: Good luck with your shots tomorrow!  I didn't know you lived in Red River, but I think Jane should know about this in case they need a quick source of heat for the winter.  They have plenty of trees for fuel.  Stay warm!

Kay, Russell and I changed our appointment so we can go at the same time so going this Wednesday at 7:45am. I thought the appt. was today 2/15 but that was his original appt. Stay tuned! I am anxious to see if we have any side effects. A few folks I know on FB have reported no complications so who knows?

FYI, this afternoon we received an urgent email from Novant that our location on Wednesday is changed from Novant Matthews to Novant Freedom Drive. However, the Matthews' location is still reflected in our personal records on MyChart when we log in. I called the doctor's office for clarification. We are told supplies of Moderna are coming in now and will be delivered to the Matthews location. They are now phasing out Pfizer supplies and dispensing 2nd doses at the Freedom Drive site. Interesting that State and Novant MyChart messaging is not in sync yet. SO if you are getting your 2nd dose of Pfizer in the Charlotte area, you will be going to Freedom Drive at least that is what we have been told. It pays to double check your location.

Richy Williams

I signed up for MUSC Lancaster because living at the I.O.P. MUSC was my best choice in the Charleston area. Anyway, I don't get my shots until March 9 and March 31. I signed up on that Wednesday that the Herald published it at 8 in the morning and still had to wait to March. It appears that the Hospitals have the Pfizer and CVS, Publix, Sams have the Merdona ?? Anybody else waiting for their shots ?

02/16/21 07:09 PM #1882

Kay Manning (Elrod)

Richy, I'm still waiting.  I am scheduled at Atrium in Charlotte on 3/7. However, Walgreens had a clinic yesterday and said as soon as they get more vaccine they'll have another. Since it is right up the street, I'm hoping for that. They said to check notifications on their web site periodically for appointments and cancellations.  Good luck. Is SC doing the pharmacies yet? Hope you all are staying well and occupied during this stressful time.

Rebecca Littlefield (Jones)

Richy - Try this  as it was just announced this afternoon- HT/Kroger giving shots @ Gaillard tomorrow.  harristeeterpharmacy.com

skip the zip code/search for HT location box and go directly to Gaillard box.  I was lucky and got an appointment tomorrow at 5:30.  I have appointment Friday that was ppd from last Friday due to weather and vaccine couldn't get in.  Weather this week is still bad so who knows if it will come in Friday.  After tomorrow's hopeful  success I will cancel my Friday appointment.  Good Luck!

Richy, If you decide to try somewhere else make sure they can schedule your 2nd shot. A couple of friends up here went to Walgreens and after they got their shot were told there could a shortage of 2nd doses. They both got their 2nd, but thats something to keep in mind. I get my second shot this Sat at 12:10, Iredell Memorial in Statesville.

Cathy McCallum (Morrison)

Richy I am also going to MUSC in Lancaster on March 10 and on March 31. I do wish I could get it sooner.

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

This morning we received our 2nd dose of Pfizer. When we arrived at the Freedom Drive location, they told us the email we received about the switch from the Matthews location was sent in error. They had us take a seat with about five others who appeared to be in the same dilemma. They warned there may not be enough supply on hand. Well, it worked out but I think it will be an issue for those with later appointments who do not see the email correction. We saw the email AFTER we left. Other than that first surprise all went well. We took an Advil before leaving home and when we returned home. I figure it can't hurt! If we feel any serious side effects, I will let you know but so far so good.

Rebecca Littlefield (Jones)

I had to cancel my 5:30 today because I learned it was all Moderna.  My 1st was Pfizer so Moderna definitely wouldn't work for me.  My prayers are strong and constant that the vaccine will make it to Charleston for my Friday appointment.  I keep telling myself good news is there is a vaccine available.   May take headache getting the appointment but never give upcool

Prayers for Anne Bagley Elliott in Houston.  Snow, cold,  loss of power and water.
