IN MEMORY

Mike Tate

Mike Tate

Fellow classmates,

We were hearing concerns from fellow classmate, Dennis Haire that Mike Tate had passed recently. Thank you Cheryl and George for following up to confirm that sadly Mike did pass away on 9/14/23. Kenny Garrison( RHHS65) talked to a friend of Mike's on September 22, 2023, and also confirmed this. Thank you, Kenny.

We are not aware of there being an obituary or any plans for a service for Mike. Please post your remembrances of Mike here and let us know of any other information you may know of about Mike's passing. We understand his wife passed in 2006.

Becky

Mike was a unique person. He was an electronics master.  I enjoyed many hours of learning from him.   I only saw him a few times in recent years but he was always upbeat and caring.  RIP old friend.

I'm sorry to hear the news, Mike was a little different than most guy's but he was a friend in High school, I guess the last time that I saw him was at one of our class reunion, Rest in peace ole boy, my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mike was indeed a different type but a really good guy.
It would be like him to instruct his family not to report his death and "keep 'Em guessing" about where he was 🥰

We beiieve that Mike Tate has been interred by his wife in the Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rock Hill. We still have not been able to find an obituary.

Mike was a friend indeed. I agree with Cotton Howell's comment about him being an electronics expert. Years ago I had a Marantz 4400 series tuner/amplifier I purchased while stationed in Japan. It went on the fritz waaaay back when so I took it to Mike's repair shop on Cherry Road near the Filter Plant. He repaired it for me and got it up and running again like new! Problem solved! Yay!

Rest in peace, my friend. I'm glad to have known you.

Mike was an original member of Phi Alpha Delta at aRHHS.  He repaired our electronics over the years.  I remember him as a bit of a fun loving cut up in school.
