Charlie Elkins (Class Of '65)

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles Henry Elkins, 66, of Rock Hill, S.C., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Debra Quilling Smith and Rhett Haselden officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the St. John's Center.
A native of Rock Hill, S.C., Mr. Elkins was the son of the late Robert Cooper and Lucy Lineberger Elkins. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University and retired from Waste Management International & Domestic which took him all over the world. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Hejaz Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge 111 and VFW Post # 2889. Mr. Elkins loved playing golf and building and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed the fellowship and friendships he made during that time. His favorite pastime was spending time with his three grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Elkins is survived by his wife, Rebecca Sutton Elkins of the home; his son, Charles Hamilton Elkins and his wife, Beth; and his daughter, Sarah Nicole Elkins, all of Rock Hill; his brothers, Bobby Elkins and wife, Mary of Moncks Corner, S.C.; Miles Elkins and his wife, Pat of Aiken, S.C.; Johnny Elkins of Rock Hill, S.C.; and Tommy Elkins and wife, Susie of Weddington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Wells Henry Elkins, Sarah Kate Elkins and Charles Graham Elkins of Rock Hill; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Elkins' name to St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
