Rock Hill, South Carolina - Darrell Dean Hicks, 68, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
A funeral service for Mr. Hicks will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Born in Asheville, North Carolina on March 3, 1953, Darrell Hicks was the middle son of James Robert and Delsie Kirby Hicks. He always loved Asheville and spent much of his youth there whether as a resident or frequent visitor on extended stays. He held particularly fond memories of time spent with his cousin Marlene Masters, who now lives in Burnsville and with whom he remained in frequent touch, especially during the last few months of his life. Darrell also lived briefly in Florida. For the past fifty years however, his home was in Rock Hill where he resided for twenty-one years with his long-time friend, Terry Norton. Over his life, he worked in retail, hotel, restaurant, and financial businesses. Before retirement, his employment was in customer service at Citi-Financial in Fort Mill.
He is survived by his brother, Tim Hicks, of Gastonia and one niece and nephew.
