Edith “Edie” Elizabeth Carlson

Edith “Edie” Elizabeth Carlson passed away in Marietta, GA on January 4, 2012 after a brief interlude with cancer. She was 58 years old.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 3pm First Presbyterian Church, 189 Church St, Marietta, GA 30060-1629.

Born in Anacortes, Washington, to Arthur and Alice Carlson, she also called Rock Hill, SC, New City, NY, Marietta, GA, and Houston, Texas home for portions of her life. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Edie moved to Houston in 1978. She served as Associate Dean for the School of Continuing Studies at Rice University before returning to Marietta in 2005 where she has followed in her mother’s footsteps by joining Harry Norman, Realtors. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Carlson.

Survivors include her mother, Alice Carlson, brother, Dennis Carlson (Peggy), sister, Janice Glascock (Gale), and fiancé, Michael Sherman. Also surviving her are nieces Rebecca Glascock, Nikki Carlson, Lisa Carlson, and Jennifer Carlson and nephews Chris Glascock (Jenn) and Derek Carlson. Her beloved pets, dogs, Blanche and Stanley, and the kitties, Kitty Man, Chloe and Avery, will also miss her.
