Susan Dianne Garrison Long

Gaffney -- It is with much love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Dianne Garrison Long on December 2, 2024, in Gaffney, SC. Dianne was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a compassionate, adventurous personality who never met a stranger and loved volunteering.
Dianne was born January 2, 1953 in Rock Hill, SC, daughter of the late Jesse Garrison and Janie Watkins Garrison. She was the oldest of four siblings: Lynn Phillips (Gaffney), Cindy Davenport (Gaffney) and Boyce Garrison (Oceanside, California). She moved to Blacksburg, SC in 1978 and began a career as a mechanic at Nestle where she worked until her retirement in 2012 as a planner/scheduler in the engineering department. Following retirement, she embarked on a four-year RV adventure, visiting various historical locations and many state and national parks.
Dianne was well-known as a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Spartanburg Search and Rescue, Cowpens National Battlefield, and many other state and national parks she visited. She loved nature and was a life-long learner.
Dianne is survived by her wife, Sandra Montooth, their children: Cully Long (New York City), Jessica Long Boulware (Rock Hill), Kati Montooth (Lexington, Kentucky), Keri Shadden (Landrum) and Michael Brewer (Spartanburg), and five grandchildren.
A receiving of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney Chapel. Entombment is at Frederick Memorial Gardens.
