Rev. James "Jimmy" Chalmers Grier, III
March 21, 1953 - April 2, 2022

Rock Hill, South Carolina - Rev. James "Jimmy" Chalmers Grier, III, 69, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2022 at Piedmont Medical Center after a brief illness.
A graveside service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held April 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill. Reverend Jeff Hayes and Reverend Eddie Ramsey will officiate with Reverend Suzanne Ringer leading the music.
Jimmy was a long-time member of Oakland Baptist Church, Rock Hill. He graduated from Furman University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and obtained additional master's degrees from Winthrop University. For many years, he worked at the Record Cellar and loved to share his wealth of knowledge of music with others. His greatest passion was spreading the gospel at nursing homes through word and song. He will be missed by many, especially his brother, Bobby, with whom he shared a close relationship.
Jimmy is survived by his brother, Bobby Grier of Gaffney, SC, as well as a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Chalmers Grier, Jr and his mother, Sarah Hamilton Grier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakland Baptist Church at 1067 Oakland Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
