JOHN MICHAEL McKINNEY

 

John M. McKinney, age 59, of Roberts, MT and formerly of Lawrenceville, GA, went to dance with Carol Ann on June 13, 2013. John was born July 24, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA. As Garth Brooks sings Johns favorite song, "And now I'm glad I didn't know the way it all would end, the way it all would go; our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance." John was predeceased by his late wife of 18 years, Carol Ann Hawkins McKinney, her parents; Jefferson and Libby Hawkins who lived with them for 18 years and who he cared for as his natural parents and whom he continued to take care of after Carols passing. John is survived by his current wife Kyle M McKinney, Roberts, MT; his mother, Jolene Long, TN; his daughter, Alicia Pickett, NC; his uncle, Phil Heffinger, VA; brother Jim Long, TN and sisters Jennifer Aiello, TN; Jenia Hamley, GA; Step-sons Matthew Eckman, CA and Chris Davis, VA. He leaves many more family and friends to cherish his memory. Visitation will be Friday, June 21st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday. June 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be follow at Peachtree Memorial Park, Peachtree Corners, GA. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Big Sky Honor Flight, PO Box 80201, Billings, MT 59108 www.bigskyhonorflight.org, which John was thrilled to participate in as a volunteer escort in 2012, or the Joliet Fire Dept., PO Box 388, Joliet, MT 59041, where he was a volunteer fireman.
