-- ROCK HILL - Mr. James Edward Ratchford, 40 (born Sep. 26, 1950), of 766 Carolina Ave. died May 15, 1991, at home. Funeral is 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Billy Wilson will officiate, assisted by the Rev. J.F. Baxter. Burial will be in Barber Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.

A native of York County, Mr. Ratchford was employed by Astro Textiles. He was a Navy veteran and attended Emmett Scott High School and Rock Hill High School.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marion Ratchford; sons, James Straight, Charles Ratchford, James Ratchford III; mother, Mrs. Lizzie Ratchford; sisters, Mrs. Marion Glover of Erial, N.J., Mrs. Cynthia Sterling of Washington, Mrs. Phyllis Cathcart; brothers, Ricky Ratchford, Dennis Ratchford; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Arrie Belle Barber of Washington; paternal grandfather, Charlie Ratchford Sr. of Winston-Salem.
