Michael Joseph Legerski Sr. was born in Billings in July 0f 1946.  Other than his early years he lived most of his life in Rock Springs.  He was an owner (with partners) of a filling station on Broadway for a number of years.  He then spent many years as a surveyor for Mountain Fuel and traveled over much of the West during the "boom years".  He loved the outdoors, guns, cars and trucks, and a good brew with friends.

He married Cheri Johnson in 1971 and they had two sons, Michael and Curt, both of whom llive in Rock Springs.  Mike and Cher were divorced when the boys were in high school.

He married the  love of his life,  Sue Kalas Thompson, in 1996.  They owned a beautiful home, lived a good life, and were very happy together.

Mike lived with leukemia and was successfully treated for the disease for approximately 10 years when it turned into a more serious and untreatable version of cancer.  He died in LDS Hospital in June of 1999 with his family surrounding him.  Mike was survived by his wife Sue, his parents, his older brother Don of Lander, his younger sister Kathy of Evanson, and his sons Michael and Curt.
