Joey Artis Martin, 48, of Floyd Street, Cave Spring, formerly of Rockmart, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, May 21, 2013, in a Rome hospital following a sudden illness at his home earlier in the evening. Mr. Martin was born in Rockmart July 29, 1964, and was the son of the late Wilson Martin and the late Joann Graham Martin. Mr. Martin was a graduate of the Rockmart High School, was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Rockmart, and was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, the former Tammy Langston, to whom he was married May 21, 1999; by his daughter, Rebecca Martin of Cave Spring, and by his son, Joey A. Martin, Jr. of Calhoun. Two sisters, Miss Debbie Martin of Rockmart and Mrs. Janice Owens and her husband Kenneth of Lindale, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Martin were held Saturday morning, May 25, 2013, at 11:00 A. M. at John House's Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating. Interment services followed at the Rockmart Memorial Gardens Saturday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. Pallbearers included Bubba Owens, Joey Martin, Jr., Steven McClure, Jason Langston and Rob Harbison. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday evening, May 24, 2013, from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.
