Jim, Dave Hill and I became very good friends while at RR Juinior High Schoool. That friendship remained contstant over the past 63 years. Our friendship was based upon mutual respect, trust, loyalty and sharing common values and interests. We loved and respected each other.  I never doubted for a minute that I couldn’t trust or count on Jim or Dave.

The three rocks that formed the foundation of our lifelong friendship are now two. I already dearly miss my friend Jim. That does not mean that he is gone from my conscious, or somehow vanished from my life. Jim will continue on in my heart and mind. I will carry his memory and vision with me always. And when I hear about the Cleveland Indians, the Browns or see again a great movie from the 50’s or 60’s Jim will come to life again within me. When he does I will be the better man for it.

I met Jim in RR Junior High School, and we remained good friends ever since then.  For a while after high school, our contacts were sporadic when we would return to Rocky River and get some of the guys together for a pickup game of basketball, baseball, or touch football.

After Jim served in Viet Nam, he became quite a world traveler, particularly in Asia.  My wife Elaine and I always enjoyed his long, interesting hand-written letters from all over the world.  (No email in those days.)

Then Jim surprised us in the early 1970s when he showed up at our home in Boulder, CO.  He stayed in the Denver area; so I saw a lot of him (peak climbing, tennis, and even some skiing) after that.  In 1987 Jim set up the first trip the Elaine and I made to Nepal through his foreign travel company, Wanderlust Adventures.

In 1995, Jim married Lien, and I enjoyed the nice ceremony and seeing many of his family members.  As time went by, Elaine and I enjoyed meeting Jim and family for Colorado Rockies baseball games.  Sometimes our old friend Bill Northrup would join us.

When Jim got Parkinson's, his activities became more limited.  But he always enjoyed talking sports and old times on the phone.  In March of this year, Bill Northrup, Elaine, and I visited Jim and family at his home in Aurora, CO.  Unfortunately, that was that the last time I saw Jim, but the many good memories remain.
