It is always a sad thing to me to learn about the passing of fellow classmates and Jana's passing is particularly sad to me.

My memories of Jana are actually from Junior High.  We only had a couple of classes together and a study hall, but that was enough time for her to make an impression on me.  Those of you who remember study hall with Mr. Adams know that you did not want to get caught doing anything other than studying so it was a real "risk" to be passing notes which is what I remember doing with Jana, but it was worth the risk to me because I had a crush on her.  I never told anyone that including Jana, but, somehow, I think she knew and was flattered by it.

I wish that I had gotten to know Jana better during that time and in the years that followed, but shyness and the fact that we had different interests and friends kept us from getting close.  I remember Jana as a kind, intelligent, and attractive young lady which is still how I see her today.

I am sorry that you left us so soon Jana.  You have a great worth and your passing is a loss to us all.

Jana and I were good friends since the sixth grade at Northside Elementary in Mr. Seamster's class. She lived out on Highway 62, and had goats, horses, cattle, and a Sheltie named Poncho. She was a good barrel racer and we would go to rodeos together. She and I rode horses to the Avoca store in the summer and buy Fudgsicles. Sometimes Doug Blevins would ride with us. Good times.

She had a wicked sense of humor and we were always laughing. We would get on the phone after watching Laugh-In and recap the entire show until my dad told me to get off the phone.

We remained friends, even though we didn't run around together in high school. Over the years, we stayed in touch, and would get together and laugh like teenagers.

Jana was proud of her sobriety, and was honest about her relapses. She taught me a lot about life, and I consider her one of my best friends. Rest in peace, Jana.
