
Rita Jenkins Coleman, age 36, of 2481 Everett Spring Road, (the Everett Spring Community) Armuchee, died early Thursday morning, April 19th, 2007, at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Rita was born on May 15th, 1970, and was a life long resident of Floyd County. Rita attended the Model Elementary School and was a 1988 graduate of Armuchee High School. She attended Coosa Valley Tech, and for a period of time served as a Medical Office Assistant. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, a member of the church choir and a member of the National Honor Society. At the time of her death, Rita was a full time student at Shorter College working toward her degree in Early Childhood Education. Rita was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ossie Touchstone and a grandfather, James T. Canada. Mrs. Coleman was married on February 16th, 1991 to James L. Coleman who survives.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Coleman, 1 daughter, Rachel Coleman, 1 son, Steven Coleman, her parents, Barbara Canada Touchstone and Larry Touchstone of Everett Springs; 1 brother, Ben Touchstone of Everett Springs, a grandmother, Ann Canada of Shannon and a grandfather, Weldon Touchstone of Everett Springs. Aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Rita Jenkins Coleman will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 22nd, 2007 at 2 o’clock at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at Everett Springs with the Rev. Wayne Hopper and Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rita will lie-in-state at the church on Sunday from 1 until 2 o’clock.
The following will serve as active pallbearers Matt Ensley, Milton Ledbetter, Leonard Buffington, Michael Coleman, Johnny Hight, Ray Barton and Doug Dunagan.
