James Eric “Jim” Williams, age 46, of Rome died Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence.
A native of Rome, Mr. Williams was born November 30, 1969 or as Jim liked to say it ”November the last”. Jim was preceded in death by his father William Joseph Williams in 2000. Jim was also preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Copeland.
Jim was a 1988 graduate of Armuchee High School. He was an outstanding starter on the 1988 Armuchee basketball team that notched a record 19 wins which still stands today. Jim also received an associate degree from Floyd College and was an avid reader. Jim loved bluebirds and worked to perpetuate their habitat.
Survivors include his mother Sondra Williams; twin brother Joe Williams; brother Bill Williams, and sisters Janet Williams and Donna (John) Sizemore. Uncle Buddy Copeland, several nieces and nephews and a very special great niece Gabi Stinson also survive.
Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perpetuate Jim’s love for Gabi by making memorial contributions to the James E. Williams Benefit Fund for “Jim’s Angel” at United Community Bank, account # 2060183148.
