Professionally: I received my B.A. in marketing from SOSC in 1982. Worked in newspaper advertising in Woodburn, OR for a year, then stumbled into fashion and never looked back. I've done a little merchandising here and there--mostly for exercise and to get out of the house, but gave that up a few years ago in favor of volunteering to teach sewing at the local inner-city high school for the last 10 years.
Personally: Married Andy Yanez in 1984 in Woodburn, OR--divorced in 1998 in Hubbard, OR. Moved to Kent, WA to marry a family friend, Dirk Powell in 1999 and have loved every minute of being his Mrs.! Ted married Georgia in 2013 and baby Macy was born in January of 2015--our lives have forever been changed. Being grandparents is the BEST part of life! We've become vagabond babysitters about twice a month as our kids need us while they photograph weddings.
Home Life: We write, operate our businesses (Dirk is a naturopathic physician), tend our gardens, travel, are very active in our church--sing in the vocal choir and play with the handbell choir, I design the altarscapes and serve as assisting minister often, along with charity sewing for Little Dresses for Africa and Days for Girls--and I spend WAY too much time on Facebook! Life is full!
