John Oneby

John Charles Oneby 12/25/55 – 6/15/2020

John C. Oneby, long time resident of Roselle, IL passed away on June 15, 2020 at 64 years of age, after a valiant battle with the Corona Virus.
John graduated Lake Park High School and for a number of years enjoyed working in Elgin, IL at the Sherman Hospital Orthopedic Department. John went into business for himself doing carpentry and remodeling in the 80’s. He found the freedom, challenge and creativity of construction work pleasing and rewarding. He was skilled with remodeling, home additions, electrical work, plumbing, framing, drywall, painting and more.
John had a wonderful sense humor that was always evident. With timing and delivery that was spot on, he would share something not obviously humorous, but the mischievous twinkle in his eye would let you know that he was joking around. He had a playful spirit.
John loved animals. He named and cared for a squirrel and chipmunk living in his back yard. He would watch the two of them scurry around the yard playfully, bringing him hours of joy. He’d always make sure they had plenty to eat.
He was a big Bears Fan. John loved to watch the Bears play on television. His other TV favorites were old western movies and shows from the 60’s and 70’s.
John was quiet, peaceful, thoughtful, unassuming, joyful and always ready to lend a helping hand. John was fiercely loyal to his friends, a wonderful quality rarely found in others.
John had a very close and loving relationship with his mother Jenny. His mother loved him more than anything and John lived in her home to care for her in her later years. Jenny passed away unexpectedly in 2014 and the sudden loss of his mother grieved John deeply.
John accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and therefore his salvation is assured. We know that we will be seeing John in Heaven with a new body and his familiar smile.

John, you are missed more than you could possibly know and you will always be remembered fondly in our hearts. We are proud to have been your trusted friends…Thank You.

His sister Marie, his lifelong friends Jay and Lisa Owen, the Owen and Urgo families, survive John.
