Phillip Tock

Phillip Tock

Phillip Mark Tock, 61, died September 22, 2017 at Rush Hospital from respiratory asphyxiation after a fall, breaking his shoulder and pelvis three days prior. He was surrounded by his family. Phillip was born January 10, 1956 in Chicago. He was the third child, second son of Phillip and Lynn (nee Urban) Tock. Phillip lived in Chicago until he moved with his family to the suburb, Lombard, at age 2. He attended an elementary school in Lombard until his family build a home in Roselle where he entered fourth grade at Medinah South Elementary School at 9 years of age. He graduated Medinah South Elementary and then Medinah North Junior High School in 1970. He attended Lake Park High School until his family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona his junior year. He attended Thunderbird High School in Phoenix but left school before graduating. He retained close contact with his LPHS friends and decided to return “home” to the Roselle area. Phillip was easy going, fun to be around and made many friends. He kept all the correspondence from his friends. He was pursuing a career in electronics and was intending to join the Navy. Unfortunately, in 1976 at the age of 20, as a passenger in a car, he sustained serious injuries, which included substantial brain injuries affecting him for the rest of his life. Inspite of this tremendous disability he was able to get his GED and Associate degree at Triton College. His memory and other brain related injuries made it very difficult for him to work and remained on disability for the rest of his life. He participated in a number of job-related programs like Goodwill. His last being at FedEx. Unfortunately, in the last 10 years of his life he suffered from many serious health issues. Amazing thru it all, he kept a good sense of humor. He was a born again Christian and quite a biblical scholar. He enjoyed collecting coins, had an extensive movie collection and loved his music. Phillip was a life long CUBS fan and said he could not die until he saw the CUBS win the Pennant. That dream came true the year before his death. He was laid to rest in Queen of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL wearing his beloved CUBS shirt and hat. His gravestone reads “Jesus is Victor”. Phillip’s parents and younger sister, Cindy preceded him in death. He is survived by his older brother, Michael, older sister, Melissa, younger sisters, Melanie and Phyllis, step mother, Barbetta, two nieces, Nikki and Shelby and a nephew, Corton.
