Daniel Paul Hildebrandt of Roselle

Daniel Paul Hildebrandt, 80, passed away suddenly Aug. 15, 2013. Born May 31, 1933, in St. Louis, MO, son of Nicholas and Bertha. Beloved husband of Dorothy Mae, with whom he would have celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary on Aug. 20, 2013. Loving father of Daniel (Laura), as well as Deborah and Donna (Darrel) Senior, both of whom preceded him in death. Brother of Dorothy Hoffman and Lois (Gordon) Peacock. Dearly loved grandfather of Samuel, Annelise, Nicholas and Michael; further survived by many nieces and nephews. A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Daniel graduated from Valparaiso University in 1954, after which he served in the Army for two years. For the next 34 years, he devoted himself to teaching math, including 30 years at Lake Park High School in Roselle. During his time at Lake Park, and after his retirement, he shared his love for the game of tennis as coach and mentor to countless students. Over the past 5 years, Daniel rekindled his love of teaching by developing the Trinity Community tutoring program. He will be missed by many. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (¾ mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle, and from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle. Cremation will be private.
