John "Jack" M. Pomatto Jr., 70, of St. Charles, IL passed away on Thursday June 12, 2014 in his home. He was born on April 22, 1944 in Joliet, IL the son of John M and Rosalie (Megyeri) Pomatto. Jack graduated from Joliet Catholic High School, Lewis University and received his Masters" Degree from Northern Illinois University. He was a teacher, and taught at Lake Park High School for 31 years prior to retirement. In retirement, he worked for the Kane County Forest Preserve as a Naturalist. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren of Elgin Survivors include two children: Jason (Ericka) Pomatto of Elmhurst, IL and Lara Lewandowski of Aurora, IL; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas, Christopher, Maggie and Hannah; a brother: David (Donna) Pomatto of Naperville, IL; his life companion: Sharon LeCount, and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, 783 W. Highland Ave., Elgin IL 60123. Burial will be private in the church memorial garden. Family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, is in care of arrangements.
