Michael Luria SHOKAN - Michael Luria, 67, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at Kingston Hospital. Born May 21, 1948 in New York City, he was the son of the late Irving and Ann Geissler Luria and had been an area for many years. Michael was a social worker with Ulster County Social Services for 36 years. He received his bachelors degree from University of Pennsylvania and his masters from Columbia. He was a talented musician and songwriter, performing his compositions at Morningstar Fellowship and the Hudson Valley Folk Guild. He was predeceased by a son Austin Luria and his sister Moriah Marston. Surviving are his wife Laurie DuBois Luria, a son Travis Luria of Port Ewen, daughter, Hannah Luria Fros of Bloomington, his stepchildren, Denise Simrany of Pleasant Valley, R. Justin Merrithew of Shokan and Ryan Merrithew of Pleasanton, Calif. Friends will be received Friday 5 to 7 p.m. at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ashokan Center, Beaverkill Road, Olivebridge. Musician friends are invited to bring an instrument and share a song about Michael.
